EQT

EQT is the largest company you’ve never heard of, owning more than 100 businesses around the world. EQT is a global private equity firm that invests in private businesses and infrastructure assets. Essentially they buy strong companies, partner with their management teams over the next few years to future-proof them, and then bring them back to the market.

Some private equity firms have had a bad rep, especially in the US during the ’90s and early 2000s, but EQT operates in a very different way. Its strong Nordic culture (the company is Swedish, with headquarters in Stockholm) brings a focus on sustainability and inclusivity to everything they do and invest in. EQT is also paving the way to show that investing in things like renewable energy is actually good business.

I work on one of the teams responsible for helping future-proof EQT’s investments, with a focus on AI, Data, and Technology adoption. The work has two main aspects: supporting the investment deal process by providing internal tools for our investment professionals, and driving the adoption of Data and AI within our portfolio companies (a process known as “value creation” while these companies are owned by EQT).

It’s a space I find fascinating because it combines two things I like: the variety of industries I get to work with (similar to what I enjoyed in consultancies) and the challenge of driving technology adoption—especially with all the rapid advancements we’ve seen in AI and Data in recent years.

My role at EQT:

  • Lead UX and Product Strategy for the Motherbrain Platform

  • Support value creation workstreams for EQT’s portfolio companies, focusing on AI and Data adoption
