Portal Caixa

I'm really proud of this one. Caixa is not just any bank, it's the largest public bank in Brazil, serving over 78.3 million people with various banking services every day. They're also behind the lottery, labor benefits, and various social and income transfer programs. So, in one way or another, Caixa has a role in almost every Brazilian family's life. My role was leading UX and Strategy for the team that designed what would become their new portal, back in 2013. This involved a complex task of organizing their vast array of services (catering to consumers, businesses, and government entities) and overhauling their entire design system.

Our research was extensive – we talked to business owners, public servants, wealthy families, residents of favelas, and more. It was one of the broadest projects I've been involved in, in terms of user diversity. The solution we developed was robust, remaining relevant and online for over 10 years, which is quite an achievement for a website. It's hard to imagine another project in Brazil that could match this level of reach and impact.

My role:

  • UX strategy: Wireframes and sketches, user testing, prototyping

  • Research: Stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, user interviews

  • Business strategy: Organizational capabilities, roadmap, platform portfolio strategy

  • Define personas, user value and messaging approaches to be used on go-to-market strategies
