Leap Motion
Leap was my first experience designing for gestures. We were exploring uncharted territory – creating a way for users to control their computers using just hand movements, Minority Report style. The device didn't last very long in the market, but being part of that project was incredible. That's the context: we started designing without even having the actual device, and the developer API was being built as we were designing the apps for it. It was definitely a unique challenge. But what really stuck with me was how, at a foundational level, designing for Leap felt similar to designing any experience. It also taught me about the importance of understanding the constraints of new technology when you are designing for it.
My role:
Lead the UX for first wave of apps built for the Leap Motion device, an innovative hardware product that enabled computer control through hand gestures
Develop innovative ways to prototype and test, before the final hardware was available
Define experience strategy, through benchmarking, SDK assessment, wireframes, flows, user testing and visual design
Coordinate distributed team of designers and developers, located in California, New York, Bogotá and Rio de Janeiro
